URGENT PRAYER REQUEST!
SITUATION REPORT ON THE FULANI MILITIA ATTACK ON OTUKPO TOWN, WHERE OUR SSIH CONVENT IS LOCATED
7-12-2026:
Earlier this morning, we woke up to the news that a community just ten minutes’ drive away had been attacked by jihadist militia. Many people were wounded, and about ten souls went to face judgment.
We quickly held a security meeting and made plans to evacuate the nuns from the convent, as convents are prime targets for them. They either abduct the nuns and demand ransom, marry them off by force, or commit heinous crimes against their consecrated bodies. We are also evacuating the little orphans to a safer part of the state.
We earnestly call on you all to continue praying for our safety. Some nuns have opted to remain with the Blessed Sacrament in their chapel, while the rest of us in our different houses are prepared for possible martyrdom, as we cannot all vacate the area.
These jihadists truly mean business. They boast that we can do nothing to stop their attacks, as they are well armed with sophisticated weapons. Nevertheless, we have Our Lady, St. Michael, and the entire Heavenly Court to turn to.
We earnestly beg for your prayers and Holy Masses, that the Triune God may abate this terrible evil that has befallen us. The worst part is the constant fear of when they will strike next, but we are prepared to be counted among the martyr-saints of God.
Let us continue to love one another. If God blesses you with the means to support us with the evacuation and relocation to safer ground, we shall, as always, continue to remember you and your loved ones in our prayers and Holy Tridentine Masses.
In Cor Jesu et Mariæ,
Fr. Abah Samuel Maria, SSIH Mission Nigeria
